June has finally arrived and with it comes Convocation. Ceremonies take place from June 12 – 19 at the Convocation Pavilion located at the Rexall Centre. Here’s a list of the ceremonies affiliated with the faculties and departments at Calumet and Stong Colleges:
Health I - Friday, June 12 at 10:30am
Health II - Friday, June 12 at 3:30pm
Health III - Monday, June 15 at 10:30am
English - Monday, June 15 at 3:30pm
Cognitive Science - Wednesday, June 17 at 3:30pm
Schulich School of Business - Friday, June 19 at 10:30am
Graduand need to arrive two hours before the beginning of the ceremony. Upon arrival they will pick up the academic regalia and name card and go to the marshalling area. The graduand procession enters 45 minutes before the ceremony.
The robe, hood and cap must be rented online before the ceremony. The rental is booked upon your RSVP. Marshalling is the procedure of forming an alphabetical line by department and degree classification.
The convocation ceremony is scheduled as:
- Academic procession
- Call to order
- National anthem
- Opening greeting
- Chancellor's remarks
- President and Vice-Chancellor's Remarks
- Conferral of special University awards or recognitions (not in all ceremonies)
- Conferring of the Degree Honoris Causa (not in all ceremonies)
- Convocation address
- Dean's remarks
- Presentation of candidates/graduands
- Conferral of degrees
- Withdrawal of the procession
All ceremonies are followed by a reception with the faculty, graduates and guests. The location is found in the ceremony program.
