Academic Orientation programs are designed to help new students develop the knowledge and skills they need to successfully begin their university career.
These transition programs are offered to new incoming students at the start of their academic term.
Please join us on move-in day for our Parent & Family Orientation Day to learn about the opportunities, services and resources York has for your student.
Attendees will also receive information about academic services, social activities, recreational activities, and facilities related to their student’s College which will serve as their ‘home away from home’ while at York.

10:00 am to 1:00 pm: Central Orientation
Location: Vari Hall
1:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Lunch and program information at Calumet and Stong Colleges
Location: Stong College, Masters Dining Room (Stong College, Room 101)
Parents are encouraged to attend both orientation sessions.

York Orientation Day is an on-campus event where you will:
- Meet students in your major
- Meet upper year students and professors
- Become fully informed about your degree requirements and campus resources
- Enjoy lunch with members of your college and program community
- Attend a special ceremony with York’s entire incoming class

Social Orientation – also known as Frosh Week – is optional for new students. This is hosted by your College Student Government/Council and an opportunity to build friendships and have some fun.
